#20.Memoir of a Broken Heart

I heard her thoughts
She was looming about paradise
I took her hand
I held it tight

Under the night-sky so bright
Her face lit up my heart
All that bittersweet despair
That nearly tore us apart

She hugged me tight
She made me promise
Of a life of pondering happiness
Yet loving sanctity and madness

This silly game made me smile
And laugh and cry
She wiped my tears
And kissed me goodnight

Information:

I am a hysterical romantic recovering from ‘restless heart syndrome’. This poem dwells into my plethora of emotions. This is a tribute for you, S.

The protagonist is facing untold worries in his head. He is trying to be peaceful. His entire world revolved around one single entity – his love.

He recalls every single moment, every single word and every single breath with her.
The memories keep hitting him over and over again and he just sits with himself in comfort. So, he decides to let his mind introspect once and for all.

… And the outcome?

Well, it is magical and beyond imagination to any normal person. This poem sums up the protagonists thoughts into one.
His soul feels calmer yet remnants of a love still haunts him. Memories never ever fade away. The protagonist has decided to cherish each and every memory with her.

Maybe that’s what life is all about – To appreciate every small thing around you and live the experiences.

“She said I can’t take this place,
I’m leaving it behind.
Well she said I can’t take this town,
I’m leaving you tonight.”

“Give me a long kiss goodnight,
And everything will be alright…”

Thank you,
